Accepting The Rules
We are meditating and acting upon six important steps to free us from the bondage and deception of Satan. The first step was to recognize the power of confession; the second was to know who really loves you, and the third was to break sins barriers. Psalm 119:57-64
Before we take the next step, let me counsel you that a halfway commitment to God is no commitment at all. God is a jealous God. He wants all of you! Satan, on the other hand, tries to appear more liberal. “You can serve God,” he will tell you, “Only let me have just this one little part of your life.” He tries to make that arrangement sound reasonable, then he enlarges the little part you have given him until he has all of you. In this sense, God is not “reasonable.” He plainly states that He wants all of you — a one hundred percent commitment.
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. (Mark 12:30)
Now, here is the next step…
Fourth, accept the rules. God wants you to play strictly by His rules. You must accept His Word as the rule for your life. Two basic types of law govern this world — natural laws and spiritual laws. An example of the natural laws that govern our physical world is the law of gravity. This law declares that “what goes up, must come down.” Now I could say I don’t believe in that law, but my not believing doesn’t change the law. The law of gravity exists, regardless of my attitude toward it.
To prove that I don’t believe in the law of gravity, I might climb to the top of a building and step off. No matter how much I disbelieve the law of gravity, there is going to be a bloody mess where I fall. That proves the law of gravity is true. My not believing in the law did not nullify it in the least. I could say the same for many other basic natural laws governing our universe.
The same holds true for the spiritual laws of God. God’s spiritual law is the law of the Spirit against sin, God’s “Thou shalt nots.” You could say, “I don’t believe in God. I don’t believe in the spiritual laws of God, especially the sin law.” But, like natural laws, these laws are reality. Their existence does not depend upon our accepting them or believing in them. All you have to do to prove their existence (as is true with the law of gravity) is to violate these laws. Break them, and as surely as night follows day, there will be a price to pay.
Once we accept Christ’s death as the atonement for past sin, we need to accept God’s Word as the rule for our present life without hedging, without compromise, and in full faith that His Word will lead us in the way that we ought to go. This is an important step to overcoming the deception of the enemy and living in total victory.
Make this declaration:
I accept God’s Word as the rule for my life without hedging, without compromise, and in full faith that His Word will lead me in the way that I should go.
