FOCUS ON THE KINGDOM
Exodus 12:29-42
After the great wealth transfers from the wicked to Israel in the days of the patriarchs, Abraham and Joseph, God prepared Israel to receive another great wealth transfer. Following the end of Joseph’s administration in Egypt, the Hebrew people were enslaved by the Egyptians and became impoverished under the strict rule of Pharaoh. In time, God heard their cry and revealed a plan to Moses that would not only set them free, but would also provide a great transfer of wealth (Exodus 3:1-2). (A great wealth transfer is always preceded by a revelation from God.) Focus On The Kingdom
Did you ever wonder why God hardened Pharaoh’s heart so many times when Moses requested that Israel be allowed to leave? Have you ever wondered about the lengthy process and why all the plagues were necessary? It was part of God’s plan from the beginning. He fully intended to bring ten horrible plagues upon the Egyptians so they would be so glad to see Israel go that they would help them on their way by giving them all the gold, silver, and treasure of Egypt. In the divine plan and providence of God, the transfer of wealth from the wicked to the righteous occurred once again.
Later on in the biblical record, when King Solomon received his visitation from God, he was asked what he wanted. He could ask for anything and God promised to give it to him
Solomon’s mind was not on riches, fortune, or fame. His concern was with God’s people. Solomon had his priorities right, and so he illustrated an eternal principle of God that Jesus would reiterate hundreds of years later:
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)
When God asked Solomon what he wanted, he didn’t use the opportunity to satisfy his own desires. He asked for an understanding heart that would give him the ability to lead God’s people, Israel. He demonstrated character and integrity, and as we learned earlier these qualities are necessary if we are to receive the transfer of wealth God has prepared for us.
You may be sitting amidst a mountain of bills right now wondering how you are ever going to finance the end-time harvest of God when you can’t even pay your own debts. You may pray daily for God to give you finances to pay your bills and you may be wondering why God has not done anything for you.
The answer is this: We shouldn’t expect to receive a great wealth transfer as long as our hearts are only on dealing with our own personal needs. We must change the focus of our hearts and set our affections on God and the work of His Kingdom. This enables us to receive wealth by God’s sovereign decision.
Make this declaration:
My heart is set on God and the work of His Kingdom. I am ready to receive the wealth transfer He has planned to channel through me for the extension of the Gospel.
