GOING TO THE ROOT CAUSE
Our battles are not with family members, our husband or wife, employer, fellow workers, or any individual. Our battles are not with sickness and disease — cancer, high blood pressure, heart trouble, or diabetes. Our battles are not the problems we are facing on our jobs or in our finances. Matthew 12:33-37
We must go beyond the surface to the root cause. In prayer we must go deep into the spirit realm, locate the real enemy — the evil spirits that are at work — and bind them in the Name of Jesus.
Spiritual warfare is not just a theory. It is a reality! Although we cannot see it with our natural eyes, this war we are fighting against Satan is just as real as the wars we see taking place in the natural world that are being fought with tanks, airplanes, missiles, and guns.
This war where we are wrestling, struggling, and fighting in one-on-one combat is not taking place in the natural realm. We see the effects of Satan’s attacks in the natural world as he attacks our bodies, our finances, our families, and our circumstances. We see the effects of his attacks in the lives of our loved ones in rebellious children, lost family members, and those who are bound by drugs or alcohol. But until you begin to recognize where this spiritual battle is taking place and take offensive action against Satan, you will continue to live in defeat.
Where is the battlefield where the war against Satan and his principalities must be fought and won? Satan is attacking us at our most vulnerable point. His objective is to attack at the very center of man’s existence, within his innermost being.
Jesus, in explaining to His disciples the source from which man is defiled and sin is conceived, said that sinful conduct comes out of the heart. He told the Pharisees:
0 generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the treasure bringeth forth evil things. (Matthew 12:34-35)
In these verses, we see that man’s heart is his innermost being, where either good or evil thoughts reside. A man’s words and actions are determined by what is in his heart. If there are thoughts of hatred, anger, jealousy, or pride in an individual’s heart they will be manifested in the words that come out of his mouth. Whatever is stored in a man’s heart, within his innermost being, will eventually be manifested in his actions.
What is in your heart? What is in your innermost being?
Make this declaration:
Dear God, I open my heart to You today. Reveal to me what is in my innermost being. Help me go to the root cause.
