RESISTING IN THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT
In addition to programming your mind for victory instead of defeat, you must also refuse to give Satan access to your mind. Satan wants you to have a passive mind and allow him to fill your mind with worry, doubt, fear, unbelief, defeat, failure, temptation, and every type of negative thought. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
When you are worried, discouraged, or depressed, he wants you to think you can’t help yourself or that there is nothing you can do to control your thoughts. But you can arm yourself with a militant mind!
Unless a person is suffering from depression that is caused by physical problems, he or she is depressed because they choose to be depressed. If your mind is filled with illicit sexual desires or other carnal desires of the flesh, it is because you choose these thoughts to be there.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, you have the ability to take authority and bring all your thoughts into captivity (2 Corinthians 10:5). If you have these types of thoughts in your mind, it is because you have not exercised your will to resist Satan, rebuke those thoughts, and reject them from your mind. Jesus has already defeated Satan and given you power over him, but that power is not activated until you resist Satan, his thoughts, lies, and attacks on your mind and body.
James told the believers, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). The Greek word for “resist” in this verse means “to set against; to withstand.” You must rise up in the Spirit of God and withstand Satan and the evil powers and principalities that are coming against you. You must actively and aggressively oppose Satan by ejecting his thoughts from your mind.
The type of resisting James was talking about that forces Satan to flee is not a mental battle. It is not mind over matter or positive thinking. It is not just a matter of speaking words or saying, “I resist those thoughts in the Name of Jesus.” You cannot resist and reject the thoughts Satan will place in your mind in the strength of your own natural mind and will. You are not using carnal weapons in this war against Satan.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10: 4-5, NIV)
Don’t kid yourself! Satan isn’t afraid of you. He’s not going to run from you. But he is afraid and will run from the One Who is in you, as you resist him in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.
Make this declaration:
Satan, you have no control over my mind. I command you, in the Name of Jesus, to loose your hold on my mind.
