Spiritual Ignorance
Satan’s strategy is to hold you helplessly in a state of spiritual ignorance. He will do everything possible to stop you from knowing the truth about him, and to stop you from knowing your position of power and authority over him as a child of God. This is exactly the strategy he used on the people of Israel to keep them out of the Promised Land. It is the strategy that caused their defeat at Ai and Satan still employs these same methods today.
Satan has planted fear in the hearts of many Christians causing them to think they are weak and powerless against his attacks on their bodies, their finances, and their loved ones. One of the powerful strategies Jesus used to defeat Satan and live His life in 100 percent victory was that He faced the enemy from a position of knowing! Jesus never wavered, faltered, or retreated. Jesus knew the power and arsenal of the enemy and that He had power and authority to defeat him in every circumstance: “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).
When Jesus died on the cross, He took Satan’s authority over the earth away from him and gave us power to overcome and defeat all of his attacks:
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil. (Hebrews 2:14)
Today Satan desperately tries to keep that defeat a secret. Satan does not want the Church to know that through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross they now have the power: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy” (Luke 10:19).
The devil’s only hope to lure souls into his eternal hell is to keep the Church functioning in a state of perpetual spiritual ignorance and that tactic has become one of his major strategies. To implement this strategy of spiritual ignorance, one of the major lies Satan has planted in the Body of Christ is to perpetuate the false fear that many Christians have concerning the purported power of the devil. He has distorted and embellished on his horns and pitchfork image, causing many to see him as more powerful than he really is.
Much of the Body of Christ still clings to the Hollywood image of the devil as portrayed in The Exorcist. They believe he has a force so powerful that he can freely throw people around rooms, twist the innocent heads of little girls, and toss praying priests out of two-story windows. These pathetic and false depictions are all nothing more than lies.
Make this declaration:
Satan will not keep me in spiritual ignorance. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, lives within me.
