As children of God, we have been set free from a fear of God’s wrath and the fear of death. Paul told the Hebrews
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he (Christ) also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (Hebrews 2:14-15)
Christ has destroyed Satan, broken the power of death, and set us free from the fear of death. There is no reason why any of God’s people today should fear death. You have been set free from a fear of death!
There is a place we can reach in our relationship with God where there is no fear! When we come into a relationship with God where we are one with Him — Christ is in us and we are in Him- we come to know and experience God’s love. As we walk in His love, believing, trusting, and relying upon His love for us, we are set free from all fear:
And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience), and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in Him.
In this (union and communion with Him), love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment — with assurance and boldness to face Him because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love — dread does not exist; but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and (so) he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love — is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection. (1 John 4:16-18, TAB)
It is God’s will that we have a full manifestation of His love in our lives where we are living in freedom from fear. He has planned his love to be perfected, to grow to full maturity in our lives, until every trace of fear is cast out. Once we understand and recognize the power of God’s love and walk in it, we will be able to face every circumstance, trial, persecution, Satan, all the demons of hell, and even death without fear!
