Topic: THE WORD CAN SAVE YOUR SOUL…
“…with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” James 1:21
Man is a spirit, he has a soul, and lives in a body. The SOUL is that part of man which seats the WILL, emotions, and the mind. The WILL is defined as “volition” or simply “the ability to choose.”
When you got born again, it was your spirit that got saved and not your soul or your body. Salvation for the spirit is instant, and the salvation for the body will be instant too, but the salvation for the soul is a gradual process.
Why don’t you want to go to church? Why don’t you want to win the lost? Why do you find it difficult to give? Why don’t you act on the word of God? It is because even though you are saved, your soul is not saved. You’ve got to save your soul by giving your mind, will and emotions to the word of God for salvation.
In our opening scripture, James shows the Christians how to save their souls. We know he was writing to Christians because he calls them “My brethren” in James 1:2. He tells us to RECEIVE THE ENGRAFTED (IMPLANTED) WORD.
CONFESSION
I give my will to the word of God, to be transformed into the will of God; I give my mind to the word of God to be renewed and transformed into the mind of Christ; I give my emotions to the word of God, to be transformed into the God-kind of emotions, today and every day.
